Membership FAQ

  1. What are the benefits of membership in CIGA, or in other words, why should I join CIGA?

CIGA is an organization of active Geocachers that promote Geocaching in Central Illinois by organizing events, public education and service projects. All of our events are open to everyone and membership is not required. We would like Geocachers to identify with and participate in CIGA. Many really good ideas originate from our members (such as this FAQ) and the clubs purpose is to promote Geocaching. Joining CIGA (and paying dues) is a way to  help support the events that we hold.

  2. Do you have a family membership option or does each member of my family need to join individually?

Membership is elective. Only one dues per family is requested. For example, my wife and I geocache as a team and we are "one" member. A family may join CIGA under one userid, and we hope that all the members of the family will participate in events and attend Club Meetings when they can.

  3. Is CIGA affiliated with Groundspeak or some other official GeoCaching organization/web site?

At this time CIGA is not affiliated with any other organization, such as Groundspeak or other clubs. Of course, we welcome participation in our activities by all Geocachers that can attend them.

  4. Assuming I decide to join CIGA, where would I send the dues to and who would I make the payment out to?

The dues are $10.00 for one-year. Please contact the treasurer (Peoria Bill) or see one of the other board members at an event. Alternatively, you can send a check to Peoria Bill:
    William I. Crisp
    5003 W. Newcastle Dr.
    Peoria, IL 61615-9309

  5. Can CIGA dues be paid online , through PayPal or a similar service?

Right now payment must be in cash or check. We may consider using this type of payment service in the future.
